Our Scoring Methodology
A transparent look at how we evaluate casino hotels across Canada
How the Score Works
Each property receives a score from 0 to 100 based on a weighted framework that balances guest experience, amenities, and value. We standardize every metric so hotels of different sizes and locations can be compared fairly.
Core Criteria
- Accommodation quality: Room comfort, cleanliness, renovation status, and in-room features.
- Casino experience: Game variety, floor layout, limits, and overall atmosphere.
- Dining and nightlife: On-site restaurants, bars, and late-night options.
- Entertainment and amenities: Live shows, spas, pools, and resort-style extras.
- Location and access: Proximity to airports, transit, and nearby attractions.
- Value for money: Rate competitiveness and what is included in the stay.
- Guest sentiment: Verified reviews, trend analysis, and recurring themes.
Data Sources
We combine public information from official property websites, publicly available review data, press releases, and verified traveler feedback. When available, we also incorporate site visits and first-hand research from our editorial team.
Weighting and Updates
Weights are adjusted seasonally to reflect guest priorities. For example, winter rankings place more emphasis on indoor amenities, while summer updates reward outdoor features and event programming.
- Quarterly audit of each listing and amenities.
- Monthly review of guest sentiment for emerging trends.
- Immediate updates for major renovations or openings.
Editorial Independence
Commercial partnerships do not influence rankings. Properties cannot pay to improve their score, and affiliate relationships never change our editorial decisions. Learn more on our disclosure page.
